Oakland voters reject measure for more police

Oakland voters rejected a plan to raise property taxes to put more police on the streets.

Measure NN needed to pass by a two-thirds majority but it only received 54 percent of the vote.

The measure would have added 105 officers and 75 civiian technicians to the police department.

Property owners would have paid an extra $275 per year.
