The attackers are accused of punching, kicking and hitting the 4'8" woman with a stick..
The attack happened in the Fruitvale neigborhood on Grande Vista Avenue around 5:30 Thursday evening.
The Oakland Tribune reports the woman was beaten unconscious and suffers from brain injuries.
She moved to the area from China 15 years ago and speaks little English. Neighbors say the victim collected cans in the area.
"It was a senseless tragedy. Nobody here, nobody approves of that behavior in any way, shape or form. That's not the neighborhood, the country we want to live in," said one neighbor.
Police are offering a $5000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
