Last year, the CHP arrested 618 drivers statewide during the same enforcement period, and arrested 82 drivers in the Bay Area, Cross said.
One fatal collision was reported in the Bay Area during the enforcement period this year, and one was reported last year, according to Cross.
Fifteen people have died in crashes in California, up from 12 during the same time last year, Cross said.
The CHP will continue its maximum enforcement efforts through Sunday night.
