A driver on Interstate Highway 680 reported the fire to the California Highway Patrol at about 5:10 a.m. at a building at 2147 Danville Blvd., according to CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt.
The blaze was visible from the highway because Danville Boulevard runs alongside the southbound lanes of Highway 680, Van Eckhardt said. Walnut Creek firefighters responded to the condominium complex and put out the fire, which started on the exterior around the flue of a chimney, at about 5:35 a.m., the fire dispatcher said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, according to the fire dispatcher.
The extent of the damages to the building and the cause of the fire have yet to be determined, the fire dispatcher said.
