Marin Humane Society needs pet food

The humane society's Special Human-Animal Relationships program, which provides assistance to more than 200 pet owners who are low-income seniors and disabled adults, reported that requests for free pet food, veterinary care and home visits have tripled in recent months, according to program coordinator Darlene Blackman.

Humane society and SHARE program officials are asking the public to help by donating cat and dog food to meet rising demands in the community during the 2008 holiday season.

Pet food donations can be delivered to the Marin Humane Society at 171 Bel Marin Keys Blvd., Novato through Dec. 12.
