Man carjacked in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CA

The incident happened at about 10:45 a.m. when the victim was driving down the 1900 block of Blossom Avenue near Grange Middle School, according to police.

A man walked into the street and in front of the victim's car, appearing to ask him for directions. However, the man opened the vehicle's passenger side door and pointed a handgun at the victim and told him to drive to a nearby apartment complex, police said.

The victim drove to the complex, where two other suspects, also armed with handguns, approached on foot, according to police.

After the first suspect stepped out of the vehicle, the victim opened his car door and ran away uninjured, police said. All three suspects then fled in the victim's silver 1998 Mercedes C230 sedan.

A search by police has not located the suspects or the victim's vehicle, and the case has been turned over to the Fairfield Police Department Major Crimes Unit for investigation.

Although the incident took place in front of the middle school, and school was in session, no children were outside near where the crime occurred, police said.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department at (707) 428-7300 or Solano Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-STOP for a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
