Power outage in SF left thousands in the dark

SAN FRANCISCO

The first outage, reported at about 6:05 p.m., initially turned the lights off for 966 customers in the area of Fillmore and McAllister streets, said PG&E spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers. More than 750 of those customers remained without power as of 9 p.m.

The second outage, which was reported around 6:10 p.m., turned the lights off for 1,985 customers in the Inner Mission and Potrero Hill neighborhoods, but power was restored to those customers around 8:30 p.m.

A third outage, which began around 6 p.m. but was not reported until 6:30 p.m., is affecting approximately 1,400 customers in the Bayview District.

Ehlers said the cause of the outages is under investigation and there is no estimated time for when power will be restored to affected customers.
