Burglary suspect leads police on chase

BELMONT, CA

Police received reports of two auto burglaries around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. While responding to the call, officers noticed a white Lincoln Town Car that matched descriptions of a car associated with several other burglaries, police Capt. Dan DeSmidt said.

The officers attempted to stop the Lincoln on Ralston Avenue, but the driver refused to pull over, DeSmidt said.

The driver then led officers on a pursuit to Redwood City, where the car crashed on Veterans Boulevard at Whipple Avenue, according to DeSmidt.

The driver fled on foot and escaped.

"We are now trying to identify that suspect who fled," he said. Anyone with information on the suspect or burglaries is asked to call the Belmont Police Department at (650) 595-7400.
