The fire was reported just before 7 p.m. in a 16-unit building in the Crossbrook Apartments complex at 655 Enterprise Drive. Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and found a fast-burning fire spreading through eight second-story units, according to officials.

More than 50 firefighters from seven fire departments assisted in bringing the fire under control by about 7:30 p.m., according to officials.

There were no reports of injuries, but four apartments were seriously damaged and all 16 were deemed uninhabitable by a building inspector.

Volunteers from the American Red Cross assisted residents with alternative shelter.
