2 arrested after police witness shooting

EAST PALO ALTO, CA

East Palo Alto police officers and San Mateo County narcotics agents saw the shooting at about 2:35 p.m. near the intersection of Pulgas Avenue and Garden Street, according to police.

Someone in the front passenger seat of a gold, two-door sedan shot at the occupants of another moving vehicle, police said.

Authorities chased the sedan and pulled it over at the intersection of Bay Road and Palo Verde Avenue. They arrested Richard Lee Burns Jr., 26, and Gary Farmer Jr., 19, in connection with the shooting, police said.

The men, both East Palo Alto residents, also face drug charges after police recovered a small amount of illegal narcotics from the car and from the roadway nearby. The suspects were booked into county jail.

Police also made contact with the victims who had been targeted in the shooting. No one was injured but the victims' vehicle had been struck by the gunfire.
