CHP officers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle spinout at about 12:15 a.m. on northbound Highway 880 near Fifth Ave., CHP officer Aaron Quistad said.
The driver was found bleeding from a gunshot wound in the hand, Quistad said.
Oakland police arrived at about 12:30 a.m. to take over the shooting investigation, Quistad said.
An Oakland patrol officer preliminarily reported the shooting to have occurred prior to the crash in Oakland's Elmhurst neighborhood but could not confirm details.
