2.9 quake strikes near The Geysers

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.9 struck Tuesday night in Sonoma County.

According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at about 11:25 p.m. and had a depth of 1.5 miles.

The quake was centered 5 miles east-southeast of the Geysers and 16 miles east of Cloverdale, according to the USGS.
