LOS ANGELES

Police say 34-year-old Gilbert McDonald was booked late Friday night for the death of Felix Lang Jr. McDonald was arrested at a hospital where he was being treated for a broken leg and jailed on $1 million bail.

Lang, 28, was a star basketball guard at Los Angeles Valley College and had played at Portland State University.

Police say Lang and McDonald argued over a taco plate at about 4 a.m. New Year's Day at a party in Coldwater Canyon.

Investigators say the two fought outside and Lang was shot.

Authorities say the party was a pay-at-the-door event held illegally at a hillside mansion that's in foreclosure.
