Palo Alto police arrested a 50-year-old man who was allegedly caught peeping into windows of several Evergreen neighborhood homes Monday night.

A resident spotted Ronald John Tinseth, a resident of the city's College Terrace neighborhood, wandering through a neighbor's yard around 10 p.m., police Agent Dan Ryan said.

The resident followed Tinseth, watching him travel through several yards and peek into lighted windows before returning home to call police.

The caller then left his home and returned to follow Tinseth, waiting until police arrived.

Tinseth was arrested and booked into the county jail on suspicion of peeping into an inhabited dwelling.

An investigation into the prowling is ongoing, and anyone who has experienced a similar situation or has information is asked to call Detective Sal Madrigal at (650) 329-2558.

Police have also reminded residents to close curtains and shutters after dark and call 911 if a stranger is seen near their house or in their yard.
