Settlement reached in Dollar Tree case

FAIRFIELD, CA

The 26-year-old was stabbed to death at a Dollar Tree Store in Fairfield two years ago. But because the suspect was white, and said he killed Talley because she was black, Dollar Tree refused to pay workers compensation to Tally's son. They called it a hate crime, and not work-related.

Now, both sides have reached an agreement on a dollar amount. The money will allow Talley's mother to care for Talley's 11-year-old son, Larry and even pay for his college education.

The exact amount of the payout is unknown.
