SF students march to honor Dr. King

SAN FRANCISCO

This is the seventh straight year that students from the Willie Brown College Pre-Academy have marched in honor of Dr. King, but this year there will be the added incentive to march in honor of the nation's first African American president.

About 400 students are marching and they say they understand the non-violent efforts that went into producing the nation's first African American leader.

"We hope that the kids realize that the dream that Martin Luther King Jr. is alive and well in the form of Barack Obama. And that it is not just what Obama can do for us as the next president, but what we can do collectively," said Tareyton Russ, principal.

"I'm every happy because this shows that any Black person can do whatever they want," said Alexis Hill, student.
