About Julienne Weston:
The influence of fashion and design has played an integral role in Julienne Weston's life since she discovered her mother's Singer Portable sewing machine. This San Francisco native designed her first dress at age eight and remained fascinated by fashion and design.
Ms. Weston studied ballet growing up and received her Masters Degree in Dance at Stanford University. As a young dancer always on the move, Weston yearned for beautiful clothing that moved with the body and could be worn in or out of the studio.
However, in 1980, Weston's desire to design was ignited by the discovery of a brand new fabric - Cotton/LYCRA. With the advent of Cotton/Lycra - a fabric that stretches with the body without losing its shape, Weston immediately began her eponymous line, Weston Wear, a collection of contemporary apparel that drapes the body like a second skin.
Julienne overseas the design and production of six beautiful collections per year in San Francisco and employs a team of 55. Inspired by everything from bi-annual trips to Europe, to flee market finds, Weston's signature looks are flirty yet sophisticated; colorful yet demure.
Just this past spring Weston Wear expanded its operations to a classic Art Deco 37,000 square foot space in the heart of San Francisco's Mission district. Having outgrown their 11,000 square foot design studios and headquarters, Julienne Weston and her husband, Weston Wear CFO Kevin Coker, had the business savvy and foresight to invest in the future of their 28 year-old company. Thanks to a cooling San Francisco real estate environment the choice was simple.
Not surprisingly, following twenty-eight years of dedication her recognition has grown with her business. Her designs are regularly featured on TV and film. Weston Wear can be found at Anthropologie, Nordstrom Bloomingdales and fine specialty stores and boutiques in the U.S, Canada and Japan.
