New developments in teen murder

DANVILLE, CA

17-year-old Rylan Fuchs was shot-dead on his front porch two nights ago. Police now convinced Fukes knew his killer. The victim's family was sad to tell ABC7 that they think the murder had something to do with drugs.

Rylan Fuchs' stepfather wants answers as soon as possible. He's sure someone knows something about who killed his stepson. The 17-year-old was shot and killed on his porch Tuesday night.

"The kids pretty much gave him up. They immediately came over here saying, 'You know, so and so said this, that and the other, and he was over here.' I knew it was just a matter of time before these kids told who it was," said Ron Harmon, Rylan's stepfather.

And on Thursday night, many went straight to Danville Police with their information. They gave detectives cell phone numbers, descriptions, anything they had about the ones they feel are responsible for their friends death.

"There's no doubt in my mind that these people are the people and anything that can lead them to that, we want to give it over," said Tori Skahill, a friend.

Over the past two days, police have confiscated several teenagers' cell phones. Many sent text messages the night of the shooting. Even though police are staying tight lipped, Harmon believes someone involved with that text chain may know the killer.

Hundreds of Rylan Fuchs' friends agree. They've posted personal thoughts on a condolence wall on Fuchs' Facebook page. While it may be helpful for some, Ron Harmon is sure, his pain will be with him for years to come.

"The sad part of this whole scenario, is that there are two lives, two families that have been destroyed, ours, as everybody can see now, but tomorrow or the next day, when they make the arrest, that family has a cross they have got to bear too," said Harmon.

Again, Harmon says he knows the shooter may be in Rylan's acquaintance circle because when he arrived at the hospital the night of the shooting, so many of his stepson's friends were already there. He thinks the shooter may have texted the news about the shooting himself.
