Drive-by shooting under investigation

SALINAS, CA

Officers responded to a home in an unincorporated portion of Monterey County at about 3:50 p.m. Saturday, where 21-year-old Alberto Jimenez reported that shots had been fired at his house from a gold four-door Jeep Cherokee traveling north past 313 Addington Road, according to the sheriff's office.

No injuries were reported, and Jimenez could not tell investigators how many people might have been in the Jeep, or provide a description of any suspects.

Officers reported finding no evidence that a bullet hit the house. Sheriff's investigators had been investigating a separate drive-by shooting that occurred Thursday at around 12:20 p.m. when Auberto Jimenez Medina reported that at least two and as many as five shots were fired at his red Mitsubishi Galant as he drove north on Calle Del Adobe, which intersects with Addington Road just outside Salinas city limits, according to the sheriff's office.

No one was injured, and investigators reported finding evidence that one bullet from a handgun had hit Jimenez' car.

No suspect description was given to investigators, and a search of the area by a sheriff's K-9 unit yielded no results.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office reported that both victims reside at 313 Addington Road, but could not immediately confirm their relationship.

The shootings remain under investigation.
