Ground beef with asparagus

Dinner for $3.75 a serving! Owner of Twigs Studio Ria Sim shares her recipe for ground beef with asparagus sautéed in sweet sauce over lemon grass rice.

Ground beef with asparagus sautéed in sweet sauce over lemon grass rice
Serves 2-4
Each serving: $3.75

Ingredients:
½ lbs of ground beef
12 oz of fresh asparagus
3 tablespoons of sweet sauce (found at your local grocery store or Asian grocery store)
1 frozen garlic cube
Salt and pepper to taste
¼ teaspoon of oil
1 pack of lemon grass rice pilaf (found at Trader Joes or your local specialty grocery store)

Method:
Wash the asparagus, place in a microwave safe dish, cover with saran wrap and microwave for about 2 minutes

Remove and cut asparagus into 1 inch pieces, set aside

Heat pan with ¼ teaspoon of oil

Add ground beef and 1 clove of garlic

Add salt and pepper to taste

Stir fry till the beef loses its redness

Add 3 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce

Add pre-cut asparagus and sauté

Continue to stir fry until the beef absorbs the soy sauce

Rice:
Heat the rice in the microwave (instruction on the package approx: 3-5 minutes) Remove from microwave, plate and serve the beef on top of the lemon grass rice
