7th high school beating suspect in custody

VALLEJO, CA

The juvenile, who may be tried as an adult, is one of seven suspects now arrested and charged by the Solano County District Attorney's Office in connection with the Jan. 15 beating of /*Bryant Lee*/, a 17-year-old senior and Jesse Bethel High School basketball player who is still recovering from the attack, according to school district spokesman Jason Hodge.

Arrest warrants remain outstanding for additional suspects, according to Hodge.

Vallejo police said the suspects emerged from two vans around 4 p.m. and one of them struck a 16-year-old girl in the face.

Lee and other basketball players who were outside the campus' student union area waiting for the start of their basketball practice intervened, Hodge said.

Lee was kicked, punched and choked, Hodge said. The beating was recorded by a school surveillance camera and has captured national attention. Anyone with information regarding the attack is asked to contact Vallejo police Detective Jason Wentz at (707) 648-4524 or the anonymous tip line Vallejo Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-STOP.
