Two rescued from apartment fire

SAN FRANCISCO

The fire, confined to the second and third floors in the rear of the building at 104 Broad St., was reported at about 8:20 a.m. and was mostly contained in less than 20 minutes, Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.

Firefighters rescued two people off the third floor who were unable to get out because their exit was blocked, Talmadge said.

One person was transported to a nearby hospital for minor smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
