Two injured in drive-by shooting

FAIRFIELD, CA

Multiple reports of shots fired were received by police at about 3:45 p.m. in the 1100 block of Maryland Street, according to police.

Arriving officers found that two people, a 19-year-old and a juvenile victim, had been shot, police said.

The 19-year-old was transported by helicopter to a local hospital where he is being treated for an injury believed to not be life-threatening, according to police.

The juvenile victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was treated and released, police said.

Witnesses and the victims reported seeing a dark 90s style Honda Civic or similar vehicle that drove up to the home that the victims were standing in front of.

Suspects in the vehicle then fired several shots toward the house, striking both victims, before driving away quickly, according to police.

A preliminary investigation by police has concluded that the shooting was not a random event and involves known gang members.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Fairfield Police Department at (707) 428-7300, or Solano County Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-STOP.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
