Girl scouts explore science, technology

OAKLAND, CA

They met at the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland Sunday for the Girl Scouts' Annual Career Exploration Day.

It is part of an initiative to get girls thinking about careers they might not otherwise consider including everything from chemistry and forensic science, to animation and engineering.

Some of the girls are already expressing interest in areas like robotics.

"The robot, it goes forward and then it sends a reading to the rock and it measures like, like how bright the rock and it sends a reading back to the robot," said Caitlin.

Fifty different companies and organizations sent leading female professionals to talk about their jobs.
