San Jose to upgrade 62,000 street lights

For more than 20 years residents have been complaining about the yellowish glow from the lamps in use now. Those include complaints that the lights are easily mistaken for traffic signal lights.

The conversion will start in the spring and is expected to be finished in the year 2022.

City officials say the new lights will cut energy costs in half.
