Burglar caught leaving through window

SANTA ROSA, CA

Police responded to a building alarm at about 2 a.m. at a Fast & Easy Mart at 2102 W. College Ave.

Officers arrived within a minute of the alarm activation and witnessed 24-year-old Benjamin Mares exiting the convenience store through a broken window, police said.

He allegedly attempted to run away but was apprehended by a police officer after a brief foot pursuit.

Mares was booked into Sonoma County jail on burglary charges and for resisting arrest, police said.
