The incident was reported at about 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of a Safeway store at 1799 Marlow Road.

Police located a witness who reported hearing two men arguing and seeing a white Saturn get hit several times by a Chevy Suburban. Officers then found a victim with a cut above his eye and a severely damaged Saturn at a nearby gas station.

The victim told police he had been involved in an ongoing dispute with the suspect, whom he identified as 25-year-old Daniel Ryan Eames.

The victim reported seeing Eames sitting in his Suburban as he left the grocery store with a friend, and said Eames drove directly at the two in an attempt to hit them, police said.

When he took refuge in his car, Eames allegedly rammed into it several times before driving away, the victim told police.

Police said the victim followed Eames out of the parking lot, and Eames then allegedly struck the victim's car several more times. Both drivers then returned to the area of Marlow and Guerneville roads.

Investigators located Eames in his Suburban and arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

He was booked into Sonoma County jail.
