San Jose City Councilmember Peter Constant will be the honorary bell ringer at 1 p.m. Evening flashlight tours of the historic house will then take place from 6:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. Saturday, event organizers said.
It is believed that Sarah Winchester, who lived in the house, thought she would never die as long as construction was taking place on her mansion, according to event organizers.
She also had a passion for the number 13. Throughout the mansion various types of symbols for the number 13 can be found, from 13 palm trees to 13 bathrooms.
The mansion, which extends over for and a half acres, is famous for having stairs that lead nowhere, rooms built within rooms and windows that look out onto empty walls, event organizers said.
The house is located at 525 S. Winchester Blvd. Tickets for the evening tours are $45.
