Authorities responded at about 10:40 p.m. to an apartment complex at 3114 Crescent Ave. and found a man injured and lying on the ground after a vehicle had backed into an apartment, according to Marina police.
The man, determined to be a passenger of the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim's name is not being released pending notification of next of kin, police said.
The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries, according to police, who are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident.
A woman living in the apartment building was also not injured, according to the Monterey-San Benito Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross, which is providing the woman with temporary shelter.
