President Barack Obama is gearing up for a series of big events this week, meant to help rescue the economy.

The president will head to Denver on Tuesday to sign the $787 billion economic stimulus bill.

He plans to put special emphasis on parts of the plan that fund renewable energy.

The ceremony will take place at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, which is powered by over 400 rooftop solar panels.

"Because of the work that we've done in creating this new energy economy and being able to create sustainable job growth, that's provided this template for the administration to say 'this is what this package is about' and I'd have to say that has everything to do with why it's being signed here," said Colorado Governor (D) Bill Ritter.

Tuesday is also the deadline for GM and Chrysler to show the government their plans for profitability. They'll report to a newly formed presidential task force.

On Wednesday, president Obama will be in phoenix to announce a plan to help homeowners avoid foreclosure, by re-working their loans.
