The checkpoints will be held at undisclosed locations between 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday and between 6 p.m. Feb. 27 and 2 a.m. Feb. 28.

Police said the operation aims to reduce the number of people killed and injured in alcohol-involved crashes and to educate the public about the dangers of drunken driving.

Funding for the operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
