Eleven registered sex offenders were not home and their compliance will be verified at a later date, Sgt. John Snetsinger said.

One registered sex offender wanted for a parole violation, Ricky Antone Macek, a 38-year-old transient, was not located, Snetsinger said.

Rocky Lane Kellam, 55, was booked into the Sonoma County jail for failing to supply a correct address, Snetsinger said.

Officers attempted to contact 29 registered sex offenders Monday. There are 278 registered sex offenders in Santa Rosa, Snetsinger said.

Police routinely conduct compliance checks on individual sex offenders, Snetsinger said, and conduct larger compliance checks when time and manpower are available.

"No overtime pay is involved," Snetsinger said.

Sex offenders are required to provide the registering agency their address and must notify the agency of any changes within five days, Snetsinger said.

Sex offenders also must update their registration annually, within five days of their birthday, regardless of any changes, Snetsinger said.
