Arrests made in child prostitution sweep

Operation Cross Country III was carried out in 29 cities, and recovered 48 children involved in prostitution, according to the FBI.

In the Bay Area, seven children were recovered, and two pimps and 10 adult prostitutes were arrested, Schadler said. The local operations were carried out Thursday and Friday, predominantly in Oakland and San Francisco, he said.

Local and state law enforcement agencies throughout the country worked with the FBI on Operation Cross Country III, which yielded 571 arrests.
