The event at the California Theater, 345 S. First St., will also feature the world premiere of "Wake," a movie starring Jane Seymour, Danny Masterson, Bijou Philips and Marguerite Moreau.

With Mayor Chuck Reed and several San Jose City Council members also in attendance, an opening night party will follow the screening.

Organizers have estimated the festival, which will continue through March 8, will boost business in downtown San Jose and have an economic impact between $4 and $5 million.

An estimated 80,000 people from 44 different countries are expected to participate in some part of the festival, with hundreds of filmmakers and other industry officials also in attendance.

More than 72 films are scheduled to premier during the festival, which will also feature forums on weekends. The newly renovated California Theater, Camera 12, and the San Jose Repertory Theater will show films, said Jessica Trainor, a spokeswoman for the festival.

Tickets for opening night are $40 and include the film screening and after party, Trainor said. Room in the 1,000-seat theater is still available, she said. Doors open around 6:30 p.m.

Information about single tickets and passes for the rest of the festival is available online at http://www.cinequest.org.
