Firefighter /*Chris Posey*/ was hospitalized after the Feb. 5 blaze that destroyed a vacant two-story home in the city's Portola district. Investigators have determined the cause was arson.

Posey, an 11-year veteran of the department, remains in intensive care at San Francisco General Hospital, but is reportedly on his way to recovery.

"He's doing much better," San Francisco Firefighters Union Treasurer Tom O'Connor said today. "Last I heard, he was trying to walk around and he's talking."

Five other firefighters, who have since been treated and released, were also injured after a roof collapse sent hot gas and smoke down a hallway toward them.

Tonight's fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. at the Fat City nightclub at 314 11th St., and includes live music and DJs, belly dancers and fire dancers. Admission is $10.

The event will also feature a fashion show that includes local firefighter models, O'Connor said.

"It's not going to be pretty," he quipped.

Supporters have also started a Facebook page, "Praying for Chris Posey," which already has more than 3,500 members.

A $75,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for starting the fire.
