Secretary of Consumer Services Rosario Marin submitted her resignation Thursday; she was cited by the Los Angeles Times as having billed the state for travel to Washington, where she was paid $1,000 to give a speech.

The governor's office issued a statement late today saying, "We believe that being compensated for speeches is incompatible with her office. In order to avoid any distractions she has decided to offer her resignation."
