There is a government logo on top of the letter in bold that reads: "Government sponsored program". Then it says, "this special senior program is administrated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development."
However at the bottom of the page in small print, it says "This offer is a private service and is not being made by an agency of the government."
We have been contacted by the Alameda District Attorney's Office, which tells us there is an active investigation into the company that mailed the letter, Twin Capital Mortgage.
If you have receive a lookalike letter, contact your local district attorney's office.
