From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., aquarium visitors will be able to view two shelled critters, the western pond turtle, which lives in both water and on land, and the cherry-headed red-legged tortoise, which lives only on land.
The creatures' habitats are considered in jeopardy from activities such as human development and deforestation, or from invasive species.
The aquarium, located on the Bay waterfront, will have the grand opening of three new exhibits -- the giant Pacific octopus, jellies, and a climate change exhibit featuring the land-dwelling animals -- on April 4.
