Officers responded to report of an injury crash near Bunker Hill Road at about 11 p.m., and found that a pedestrian had wandered into southbound lanes and been struck and killed by a 2003 BMW, CHP officer Nicole Pacheco said.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was likely hit by more than one vehicle, according to the CHP.

The 29-year-old BMW driver was not injured in the crash, according to the CHP.

An investigation into the collision forced a closure of all but the far right southbound lane for about an hour and 20 minutes through Thursday night and this morning, Pacheco said.

Investigators are still trying to determine what could have led the victim to walk in front of highway traffic, and are asking anyone who might have witnessed the collision or been involved in it to contact CHP Officer M. Sarabia at the Redwood City Highway California Patrol Office at (650) 369-6261.
