Officers were dispatched to the area of 33rd Avenue and International Boulevard around 6:15 a.m. after police received a report of a person down, police Sgt. Richard Vierra said.
They arrived to find a man wounded but were unable to immediately determine what type of injury he had suffered, Vierra said.
The man was taken to Highland Hospital where it was determined that he had been shot, Vierra said. He died at the hospital.
Police have not yet located any witnesses to the shooting and the case remains under investigation. The victim's name has not yet been released.
