Drunk driver hits police car after chase

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA

Officers responded to a report of a possible drunken driver on upper San Juan Grade Road near Crazy Horse Canyon Road at about 11:45 p.m., according to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.

As a sheriff's deputy approached, the suspect sped away, swerving and weaving across the roadway, the sheriff's office reported. The chase ended when the suspect vehicle stopped and reversed, crashing into the patrol car.

No one was injured and the driver, Daniel Furlow, 47, was taken into custody.

Further investigation indicated that Furlow was driving under the influence and was in possession of methamphetamine, the sheriff's office reported.
