Hayward crash victim identified

HAYWARD, CA

Guess, a Hayward resident, was driving west on City Center Drive when at about 6 a.m. he entered the intersection of Foothill Boulevard on a green light. A Nissan Murano traveling north on Foothill Boulevard sped through a red light and struck Guess' Honda on the driver's side, police said.

The Honda sustained major damage and Guess had to be extricated from the wreck. He was transported to Eden Medical Center, where he died, according to police.

The occupants of the Nissan were spotted fleeing the scene of the collision, according to police.

The intersection of Foothill Boulevard and City Center Drive was closed until about 10 a.m. due to the collision, police said.

Authorities are trying to locate the occupants of the Nissan.
