Yoga with your kids

5 yoga poses parents can teach and do with their kids at home:
  1. Jumping Jacks and Janes: Gets the heart rate up and builds coordination, strength and agility. Plus it's fun!

  2. Tall Tree: Balancing on one foot, standing tall and proud like a tree. Grow your branches! It teaches balance, focus and patience.

  3. Cobra: Lie on the belly and press your hands under your shoulders, stretching your chest up like a cobra. Pretend you're a snake and hiss as slowly as you can. Opens the back and shoulders, and encourages the natural curves of the spine.

  4. Twist and Shout: Lie on your back and hug your knees into your chest. Open your arms wide on the floor and drop your knees to one side and give a big shout. Repeat on the other side. It creates flexibility in the spine.

  5. Balloon Breathing: This exercise reinforces the proper way to breath. Imagine you're breathing in and out of a balloon, slowly inhaling so the belly and chest expand; exhaling so the chest and belly fall. This will de-stress and calm your kids!!
