If you applied for a DTV coupon, then tossed it in a drawer, it may be expired and no good.

But now the FCC says you can apply for a replacement of those expired or lost coupons. Each one provides $40 toward purchase of a DTV converter box. That came as welcome news at San Francisco's Self Help for the Elderly, where hundreds of people still are not ready for the DTV switch on June 12 .

"It's not just about applying for the coupon, there's a whole series of steps you have to take, you have to get the coupon, redeem it and install it and try it and make sure it works," said Winnie Yu of Self Help for the Elderly.

More than five million coupons were issued to Californians since the program began, however only half of them were actually used.
