The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Filbert Street and San Pablo Avenue. Investigators say someone in a car pulled up to the women, and opened fire. The victims tried to drive away, but crashed a short time later.
Oakland police officers were at Friday's memorial service, so Alameda County deputies and Berkeley police responded to the scene.
