Sampurna "Samii" Basu was reported missing after she left Aragon High School in San Mateo, where she is a student, on March 20, Foster City police Capt. Matt Martell said.
The Police Department asked for the public's help in locating Samii, even though authorities did not believe she had been abducted but rather had run away, Martell said.
Police this morning were talking to her to find out where she had been and what she had been doing since her disappearance, Martell said.
He said police are relieved she has been found and is safe.
"Any time a 15-year-old is not under the supervision of a responsible adult it's a potentially dangerous situation," he said.
