Deputies responded to what was initially reported as a burglary in the 18000 block of Arnold Drive, just west of the town of Sonoma, at around 12:50 p.m., according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department.

A 43-year-old man who lives at the home told police he was awakened by stranger who demanded money and his prescribed OxyContin pills, according to the sheriff's department.

The victim was kicked and beaten during the incident, which is now being investigated as a home invasion robbery. The man told police he was not immediately able to report the crime because his phone line had been disabled.

The suspect was described as a white man around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. The victim was unable to provide investigators with a description of the suspect's clothing or vehicle.

The sheriff's office is investigating whether a second suspect was involved.
