San Jose freezes salaries of 1,000 workers

The city of San Jose announced Thursday it is freezing the salaries of more than 1,000 workers. The cuts will save the city some $2.5 million.

The pay freeze will affect only management and professional employees.

In addition, the city's top four managers have asked their pay be cut to what they were making a year ago.

San Jose is facing a $62 million deficit this fiscal year and projections show next year will be even worse.
