16-year-old boy arrested for burglary

FAIRFIELD, CA

The burglary was reported at about noon at a home in the 1700 block of Daniel Court, according to Fairfield police.

The suspect allegedly tried to enter the home by kicking the front door, and when the door would not open, he pried open a front window and entered the home, police said.

A 16-year-old victim who was home at the time called police, and the suspect was unaware that officers were en route as he began to search throughout the home, according to police.

The suspect left the home without taking anything and arriving officers were able to apprehend him as he tried to flee on a bicycle, police said. The suspect was still in possession of a screwdriver and scissors when he was arrested.

The suspect admitted to at least five residential burglaries and a number of vehicle burglaries in a subsequent interview with detectives, according to police. He was booked into juvenile hall for burglary and possession of burglary tools.
