Bike lanes on Bay Bridge gets a boost

The new eastern span of the bridge, between Oakland and Treasure Island, is already being built to include a bike and pedestrian path.

But adding bike lanes to the western span could cost $160 million to $390 million, according to Caltrans.

On Wednesday, a Bay Area Toll Authority Committee authorized an 18-month engineering study and cost analysis.
